A collegium that was held on the project “Center of Competence “Personalized Innovative Medicine (PERIMED)” at the Medical University of Plovdiv on March 27th in the Department of Medical Microbiology and Immunology “Prof. Dr. Elisey Yanev”, headed by Prof. Dr. Mariana Murdjeva, generated a keen academic interest.
The Guest speaker of the collegium Dr. Hristina Andreeva is a Bulgarian scientist who works at the Department of Immunology and Transfusion Medicine of the Laboratory Medicine at the Diagnostic Clinic of the University Hospital of North Norway, Tromsø.
Dr. Andreeva is part of the working team at the Medical University of Plovdiv under PERIMED project, which works on minimal residual disease in children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia and on developing a new immunological panel for detecting these diseases.
Dr. Hristina Andreeva made a presentation on “Fetal and Neonatal Alloimmune Thrombocytopenia – Diagnosis and Therapy (FNAIT)”, giving an overview of this rare disease and focusing on Norwegian and European algorithms for diagnosis and treatment of this pathology.
The data on this disease presented by Dr. Andreeva and the discussed personalized problems raised many questions and the general opinion of the audience was that it is highly necessary to present this lecture to a wider professional audience including geneticists, neonatologists, pediatricians, experts from the National Center of Transfusion Hematology and from centers for reproductive health.
Dr. Andreeva accepted the proposal to be a lecturer at the conference which will be organized by the Medical University of Plovdiv under the PERIMED project at the end of October.
The possibilities for future cooperation between MU-Plovdiv and the laboratory where Dr. Andreeva works were discussed in view of further developing the activities under PERIMED project.
