The public defence of scientific reviews

The public defence of scientific reviews is an established academic tradition organised annually by the Department of Medical Biology since 2010. The initiative brings together students from the Medicine and Dental Medicine programs, who present their work on current and significant topics in the field of biomedicine.

This year’s program includes presentations of scientific reviews dedicated to the immune system, autoimmune diseases, biorobotics, and genetic engineering.

Participants will present studies on innovative approaches, including the use of stem cells in the treatment of Parkinson’s disease, regenerative medicine, and the role of helminths in the therapy of autoimmune disorders.

The initiative aims to encourage scientific thinking and research interest among students by providing a platform for the exchange of knowledge and ideas on contemporary biomedical topics.

A quiz with prizes has been prepared for all attendees, and Nikolay Tomov, a first-year Medicine student, will give the musical performance.

The event will take place on 20 May 2026 (Wednesday) at 4:00 p.m.; 1st Auditorium, Study corpus 1.
