Only applicants who comply with the admission requirements may apply. They should read the HOW TO APPLY section, or contact Student Admissions Office by e-mail for more clarifications regarding the application process.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS – EU & EEA CITIZENS

    In order to take part in the admission process the foreign EU & EEA applicants will have:
    1) To have completed their high/secondary school education (12-years education) and to have obtained a Diploma/School Leaving Certificate/GCE A-2 which gives them the right to apply in Universities in the country of origin of the secondary/high school they have attended;
    2) To have studied, completed and obtained marks in Biology and Chemistry in high school, for the applicants with UK educational background – at least one of these two subjects at their A2 level, and the other one – either in A2, or in A/S level, or in GSCE.
    Notes:

  • Applicants who have failing marks in any of the above mentioned two subjects in their secondary school document will not take part in the admission process.
  • Elective Biology and Chemistry marks will not be considered.
  • In case the applicants with UK educational background apply before they have taken their GCE A-2 level (summer 2022) they have to present a Statement of Provisional Results when applying and additionally by the beginning of February 2023 – the actual certificate. Statements of Provisional Results of exams that have taken place before 2022 will not be accepted;
  • Documents of IBDP and Pre-medical qualifications will be accepted but their marks in Biology and in Chemistry from the respective diplomas/certificates will be considered only for the admission. No discipline taken in their IBDP and pre-medical program will be recognized during their study in the University.
  • Applicants with BTEC, Foundation and Bio-Medical Science qualification will not be admitted.
  • Applicants which have Science, Additional Science etc. instead of Biology and Chemistry in their high-school diplomas and certificates will have to provide a letter (legalized, translated and certified) from their high schools indicating what is included in these disciplines.
  • 3) To sit the entrance tests in Biology and Chemistry;
    Notes:

  • The applicants who have failing marks in any of the entry tests will not participate in the ranking for admission.
  • In attempt of cheating or any other fraud during the exam the applicant’s participation in the admission process 2022 will be cancelled.
  • 4) Non-native English speakers must prove their English language proficiency at least at B1 level either by presenting one of the specified certificates or by holding a diagnostic test at the University (see English Language Proficiency Requirements).
    Note:
    Non-native English speakers who do no not prove English language proficiency at B1 level will not participate in the ranking for admission.

    5) To submit the application documents set before the stipulated deadline – 02 September 2022.

    2.2. ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS – NON-EU & NON-EEA CITIZENS

    In order to take part in the admission process the foreign EU & EEA applicant will have:

    3) The applicants should have taken Biology and Chemistry courses with an average score of not less than 62% of the maximum one based on the grading system in the country of origin of the secondary (high) school they have attended.

  • Applicants who have failing marks in any of the above mentioned two subjects in their secondary school document will not take part in the admission process.
  • Elective Biology and Chemistry marks will not be considered.
  • In case the applicants with UK educational background apply before they have taken their final A-level exams (summer 2022) they have to present a “Statement of Provisional Results” when applying and additionally by the beginning of February 2023 – the actual certificate.     6) To submit the application documents set within the stipulated deadline – by 29 July 2022, UK citizens – by 09 September 2022.
    VISA INFORMATION:

  • Non-EU and non-EEA citizens must have Visa type D for residing for study at the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria.
  • The University sends the original set and one copy set to the Bulgarian Ministry of Education and Science.
  • In case the application documents are approved the Bulgarian Ministry of Education and Science issues Admittance Certificate to the applicants within a month and sends it to the University.
  • The applicants apply for visa at the Bulgarian Embassy in their countries presenting the Certificate.
  • IMPORTANT for Applicants with Indian Citizenship:
    The Ministry of External Affairs of India informs of the requirement of the Medical Council of India on the eligibility for training of Indian citizens in foreign medical universities. According to this resolution, in force from 2018, every Indian citizen intending to receive medical education abroad should meet the corresponding eligibility criteria by passing the required test (National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test: http://ntaneet.nic.in/ntaneet/) and obtaining an Eligibility Certificate stating that the person covers the requirements for training in a medical university (Eligibility Criteria for admission to the MBBS course). The official note states that these certificates are valid for 3 years.
    In connection with the above information, for the academic year 2022/2023, the Bulgarian Consular Service in New Delhi will require the Eligibility Certificate for the submission of long-term study visa documents by applicants in the specialty Medicine.

    IMPORTANT:
    In case the admitted students have not enrolled in the stipulated period due to visa delay, they may enroll in preparatory English/Bulgarian course by 28 October 2022, if they have the visa D by that time. In this case next year they will have to take part in the new admission campaign and sit entry-exams again.

English Language Proficiency Requirements for Training Programmes in English at the Medical University of Plovdiv Determining the Language Level of Foreign Citizens

    Applicants for the English training programmes should prove their B1 language level according to The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) in one of the following ways:

  • by presenting one of the following language certificates valid up to enrollment date:
    1. Cambridge English Language Assessment (formerly the University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations);
    2. IELTS Academic;
    3. TOEFL iBT (computer-based test);
    4. TOEFL PBT (paper-based test);
    5. PTE Academic;
    6. Michigan English Test (MET);
    7. International Baccalaureate Diploma (following the completion of training in English);
  • A bilingual secondary education diploma with а graduation grade from a state exam in English.
  • A certificate issued by the Department of Languages and Specialised Training after the completion of a preparatory course in language and specialised training in English at Medical Universities in Bulgaria.
  • The students who are citizens of countries with English as an official language are not required to prove their language level by sitting an exam or presenting a certificate. They should present a secondary education diploma from the respective country.
  • By sitting an exam in English, organised by the Department of Languages and Specialised Training at the University. The Diagnostic Test of English is designed to determine the level of English language competence according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages of foreign applicants who do not possess one of the above-mentioned English language certificates. They should achieve at least B1 level.
