TRAINING AT MEDICAL UNIVERSITY – PLOVDIV

    Master’s degree programs – full-time education:

  • Medicine – 6 years (10 semesters and 12 months’ pre-diploma clinical clerkship);
  • Dental Medicine – 5, 9 years (10 semesters and 9 months’ pre-diploma clinical clerkship);
  • Pharmacy – 5 years (9 semesters and 6 months’ pre-diploma clerkship).

    • The students who complete successfully the full course of studies and pass the State Assessment Examinations receive a Master`s Degree in Medicine /Dental Medicine/Pharmacy and the professional qualification of Physician/Dentist/Pharmacist.
    The University offers also English language training in Medicine, Dental Medicine and Pharmacy for foreign students.
    Bachelor’s degree programs – full-time education:

  • Nursing – 4 years (6 semesters and 9 months’ pre-diploma clinical clerkship);
  • Midwifery – 4 years (6 semesters and 9 months’ pre-diploma clinical clerkship);
  • Physician Assistant – 4 years (6 semesters and 9 months’ pre-diploma clinical clerkship);
  • Healthcare Management – 2,5 years (5 semesters).

    • Professional Bachelor’s degree programs – full-time education:

  • Public Health Inspector, Assistant Pharmacist, Medical Laboratory Technician, Physiotherapist, X-Ray Laboratory Technician, Dental Technician, Medical Cosmetics and Dietary Nutrition Instructor – 3 years (6 semesters). The training takes place in the Medical College of Medical University – Plovdiv.

    • Post-graduate Master’s Degree Programme – part-time education:

  • Public Health and Health Management – for medical doctors – 1 year (2 semesters). The training takes place in English remotely at the Faculty of Public Health.

    • Foreign citizens may apply for training in:
    – Bulgarian language course (all specialties) – in case they submit the required application documents within the deadlines stipulated, successfully pass the entry tests in Biology and Chemistry in Bulgarian and are rated in the final rating list of admitted students;
    – English language course (Medicine, Dental Medicine and Pharmacy) in case they submit the required application documents within the deadlines stipulated, successfully pass the entry tests in Biology and Chemistry in English, prove their English language proficiency at least at B1 level by sitting diagnostic test in English.

Important:

  • In the English programs of study, the discipline Bulgarian language is a mandatory part of the curriculum during the first two years of training and the students need it in order to communicate with the patients from the 3-rd year on when their clinical study will begin.
  • The students should comply with the medical clothing requirements during their clinical practicals and internships with a view to safety measures during the clinical training.
  • In the Contract of Education between the student and the university – in Art.4 (7), Section III the student takes the obligation to comply with the provisions of the Higher Education Act, other regulatory acts, as well as the Rules of Medical University – Plovdiv and in case of non-compliance the university has the right to take measures and to impose sanctions.
  • Art. 3 of the Bulgarian Higher Education Act: “The higher secular education shall be independent from ideologies, religions and political doctrines” and according to Section VI Art. 82 (1) 6 of the Rules of Structure and Operation of Medical University – Plovdiv, in connection with Art. 71 of the Higher Education Act: “The students are obliged not to conduct on the territory of the university any activity and events of organizations with political, religious, ethnic or nationalist nature.”, so the university shall not tolerate on its territory activities, demonstrations and events connected with any ideology, religion and politics. The same is stipulated also in the Constitution of the Republic of Bulgaria, viz. Art. 53 (4)” Higher schools shall enjoy academic autonomy” in connection with Art. 13 (2) “Religious institutions shall be separate from the State”. Medical University-Plovdiv is exactly state property.

    • Medical University – Plovdiv offers a preparatory course for Bulgarian and international prospective students. The course is conducted in two languages – Bulgarian and English.
